Pilot BP-1 RT is one of the best creations of the Pilot Corporations in Japan and the same goes for Matador i-teen Rio which is of course one of the best regularly used pens in Bangladesh. I have been regularly using these two types of pens since a while now. So, why not compare between the two and put my experience in a review? Here we go then!
From the rubber grip that extends till the edge to the click, Pilot Bp-1 RT has a fancier exterior than the i-teen Rio By Matador.
Pilot BP-1 RT - Strong rubber grip that starts from right after the center of the pen to the edge, allowing a tight grasp of the pen that enables less pressure on the fingers and hence a better writing experience which I personally admire. It helped me a lot in writing for longer periods, or when scribbling down instant notes according to my faculty's pace! Furthermore, with a stainless steel nib of 1.0mm, the rest of the ABS plastic body maintains a lesser weight. Along with that, it has a click mechanism which is quite appreciated from my side for an impatient person I am. The sound of click helps me concentrate more on the work in hand. There is a clip with 'Pilot BP-1 RT' stamped in golden fonts along with the Pilot's logo in the bottom, the clip holds the pen in place and prevents it from rolling over the desk. Click and pocket clip make sure that it is a one piece pen with no hassle of carrying a pen; and their color is identical to the inks'.
Matador's i-teen Rio - Simple body with white plastic. maintaining a light weight similar to the Pilot BP-1 RT. A thinner body width, however not very comfortable for longer writing periods unlike the former pen. A colorful cover makes it look much more trendy and brings a light hearted mood. It has a capped structure which can be in convenient sometimes, I personally prefer clicks which saves more time. Also, the cap is quite vulnerable so try keeping it away from naughty kids to avoid violence with your pen! However, in order to write down neat notes I'd rather suggest using the plain which provides a more subtle stainless steel nib size of 0.7mm.
Both i-teen Rio by Matador & Pilot BP-1 RT are non refillable ballpoint pens with oil based ink allowing longer lasting and waterproof writing. It also makes the ink flow effortlessly over the paper and avoid hand cramps. Even though they have the same basic formulae but there is a slight difference that varies from brand to brand according to their manufacturer.
Pilot BP-1 RT - I really love the fact that it comes with 3 different colors: Black, blue and red, allowing me to make colorful notes out of them! With bold lines, the ink of Pilot BP-1 RT glides effortlessly over the paper. I can assure you of no skipping at all! And along with that, it is completely water-proof & smear-proof so you do not have to worry even if you manage to spill water over your documents.
Matador i-teen by Rio - This pen undoubtedly gives you a finer line compared to the Pilot BP-1 RT, which helps in making neat notes and signing official papers. However, the ink may not be perfectly coated over the ball which makes it skip occasionally. No 'bleeding' but it may smudge a little after longer writing period as blobs appear. You need to be careful to not rub your hand running over the blobs!
Pilot BP-1 RT: Has helped me during long hours of lectures and taking notes very fast. The rubber grip is indeed a life saver to me. Ad how can I forget the click which makes sure I don't have to carry around a cap and the sound makes me focus better on the work, even though my peers hate me for that. It's nonetheless my personal favorite from all aspects.
Matador's i-teen Rio: I used to face little hand cramps if writing for long with this. Well, I blame myself for getting used to rubber grips though. Great for making neat notes assisted by the fine and vivid lines. also for signing office documents. All you need to do is take care of the blobs that form every now and them. And again allow me to warn you about the occasional skipping!
Pilot BP-1RT is available at 20BDT, and Matador's i-teen Rio is available at 10BDT.
When comparing the Pilot BP-1 RT with the Matador i-teen Rio, we hardly consider the few dissimilarities between them. So, let me tell you that there are differences along with similarities as well which you read above. This was my experience with my regularly used ballpoint pens. Do share yours with us too!
